If you will be moving a long distance then you have many possessions that need to be packaged and moved carefully. A moving company can typically help you with these items and various types of movers exist, that range from ones that drop a pod off at your house and then move it once it is loaded to ones that box everything up carefully and unpack at the other end.

Moving a Vehicle

Similarly, you will need to think about what to do with your vehicle. If you have an older vehicle you wanted to get rid of anyways you may want to sell and buy a vehicle in your new location. But there a number of reasons why you may want to have your car shipped for you. Many car shipping companies are out there and the levels of services they provide vary.

Why Ship?

You have lots of options to consider if you are moving a vehicle or even shipping is to a buyer in another state or country. Driving may not be an option either because you need to get to your new location quickly, you have a luxury car on which you want to minimize racking up the miles, or you need to move multiple family members and the car ride would be uncomfortable.

Service Types

Car hauling companies vary and you will want different services depending on the type of car you are moving. You need to use a closed carrier if you are shipping an expensive luxury vehicle. This option can make sure that your vehicle is protected from road debris as well as the elements.

Open transport provided by one of the many logistics companies might be the best idea if your company is paying to ship your commuter vehicle. When you are thinking of auto transport, this is one of your many options. If you want the car sent quickly then the transporters may have to do a special delivery for you and the cost will be much higher.

Cost Effective Options

If you can wait for the car to arrive then your better option will be to use standard shipping where they will batch your car with other cars and are thus able to lower the cost. For a higher degree of service, you can choose to pick up and drop off your vehicle at the station where the company operates, or you can have them come directly to your home or office.

Buying a used car can be a great joy or pain, depending on how knowledgeable and prepared you are before making your purchase

Buying a used car can be a great joy or pain, depending on how knowledgeable and prepared you are before making your purchase. You can be clueless about how to go about it and end up over paying or even worse, buying a lemon. Or you can be on top of things and end up with just what you were looking for at a fair and reasonable price. The following checklist will point you towards the latter.

1. Do your research: First, you should have a general idea of what kind of car you want to buy. Next, you will want to look online or in a Kelly’s Blue Book to see what the car is worth. That way you will not be pressured into overpaying just because you had no idea of how much the car should have cost. You should also do an online search to see if that make and model has any reoccurring problems, such as the transmission blowing after 50,000 miles or the engine giving out. Some cars are just not built to last and those are the ones you want to avoid.

2. Get your finances in order: Will you pay for your car in cash or finance it? If you are going to finance it, will you go through the car dealership or a private lender such as a bank or credit union? These are all important questions to ask because they have a direct impact on how much money you will save. You’re best option is to pay in cash. Not only because you can negotiate a lower price, but because you won’t have to worry about making monthly payments and interest fees. If you don’t have that much money saved up, your next best option is to get your loan through a private lender. They have lower interest rates than the dealership and will give you a check to make your purchase, which can come in handy when negotiating a price.

3. Do a thorough inspection: This is the most important aspect of buying a used car that most people ignore. Just because the car looks good on the outside, doesn’t mean that everything will be fine under the hood. So, take it for a test drive to check for any funny noises, jerking or leaking fluids. Or better yet, drive it over to your mechanic and have them give it a full inspection. If everything checks out, you’re good to go!

As long as you follow this buying a used car checklist, you’re well on your way to buying the car of your dreams well within your budget. So, just remember to do your research, consider your financing options and inspect every car you’re interested in buying. You can find a used car that you like on the internet, in the newspaper or at an auction. It all depends on how much money you want to save and what kind of warranties you want.

In comparison of the engine, The Porsche Cayman is positioned between the Boxster and 911. Still, it has its own different personality. It is snappier, easier, and not burdened by heavy weight hanging out the back and the need to manage the effect of that weight.

Porsche Cayman

_The Cayman is strictly a two-seater because the engine sits where the rear seats would otherwise be. This means that the engine is not quite readily accessible, although there’s a way into the oil filler via the boot. Under that long tailgate, is revealed a generous luggage area to supplement the front 911/Boxster-sized boot. Like all other Porsche, the Cayman is not very big, which makes it very practical and usable. And for all its obvious Boxster genes, the Cayman is very much its own car with its curvaceous rear wings and neat fastback roof. As with other Porsches, there’s a movable rear spoiler, which deploys above 120km/h.

Going back to were we started, the engine, the Cayman has 3.4 litres, a mix of the cylinder barrels of a 911 with the crankshaft of a Boxster. A 911 engine is of 3.6 or 3.8 liters and a Boxster S has a 3.2-litre engine. It’s a strange thing, but even though today’s Porsche engines are water-cooled, they still overlay their intake and exhaust notes with a breathy whine like that of the giant air-cooling fans of old.

Basically, the Cayman is a mix and it doesn’t have a huge number of new and unique parts. In short, the Cayman is a structure two and a half times stiffer because it’s just a Boxster with a roof. In turn, that means that the driving experience becomes much more focused because its suspension can have tauter, sportier setting.

Porsche Cayman reaches a maximum speed of 275 km/h and gets from zero to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, even if the fuel thirst is low for such pace. The Cayman is especially good with the optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), but unlike a 911, it works well enough without it, thanks to a ride that’s firm but seldom turbulent. PASM makes the Cayman sit 10mm lower, and in its Sport mode it tautens the damping. And it feels absolutely fantastic when you have the Chrono option (complete with stopwatch for timing your hot laps).

Bottom line, Porsche Cayman is a remarkable illustration of a rigid, solid-roofed bodyshell’s advantages. The Cayman S has all the positive Porsche attributes you could want, and none of the snags. It’s not the fastest Porsche, not the fiercest, not the most breathtaking. It is a pooling of other Porsche parts, which means that the Cayman is not expensive to develop but it will generate big profits. The new car, by the way, takes its name not from a tax-haven archipelago, but from a type of crocodile.

The 2010 Chevy Camaro looks to be like a breath of fresh air in the US automobile industry. With a hurricane of publicity around this model, not the least of which was a staring role in the blockbuster movie “Transformers,” the excitement level is sky high.

2010 Chevy Camaro

Following the trend of car makers looking back to revive popular past models the 2010 Camaro could prove to be the very best of the “Reborn Muscle Car Movement.” Looking at the newest Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger we can see that the public’s appetite for nostalgia is strong. Take that nostalgia and mix in modern technology, higher horsepower, better suspension and vastly improved fuel economy and you’ve got a hit!

A quick look at the initial offering of the new 2010 Camaro model shows that along with the traditional look Chevy is following the classic offering model of a muscle car launch. The 2010 is available in several different variations that differ in appearance, power and price. Chevy has kept its word and kept the production 2010 Camaro very, very close to the concept car that caused such a stir at the 2006 Auto Show. This has kept the Camaro loving public quite happy.

Initially there will be three trim packages, SS, LT and LS, all in a hardtop coupe. Starting out at the base level the LS will be the most affordable version featuring a V-6 producing around 220 horsepower. The LT is the next step up the ladder and will have a beefier 3.5 literV-6 producing a bit more than 300 hp. The monster version is the SS model, with a 6.2 literV-8 pumping out over 400hp. Price ranges are from the low 20’s to the mid 30’s.

A convertible version of the new Fifth Generation Camaro is planned for the early 2010’s as well as a Z28 package. The gear heads out there are drooling on the Z28 as reports show it will have a super-charged 6.2 liter V-8 producing somewhere in the neighborhood of 500hp!

Chevy has packed a few more goodies in the new model as well. As for transmission choices you’ll have an option of a six speed manual or a six speed “TAPshift” automatic tranny. Underneath you’ll see a 4.5 link independent rear suspension to help get that power to the street. Four wheel disc brakes, a choice of 18, 19, or 20 inch wheels, a choice of ten different colors and a lot more.

You need to save on your gas consumption in order to make your budget go farther and your vehicle to take you to all the places that you need to go

You need to save on your gas consumption in order to make your budget go farther and your vehicle to take you to all the places that you need to go. The way you drive your vehicle is very important in saving on your gas consumption. You need to be aware of the proper techniques in driving your vehicle both in the city and on the highway. Many of us are older experienced drivers or we are younger drivers who have finished a course in drivers training and we believe that we know how to handle our vehicle in order to get the best mileage.

We are not trying to teach you how to drive your vehicle but we are trying to give you some tips that will enhance your driving ability to save on gas consumption. First you need to be aware of what your vehicle can do when you have it on the open highway in order to know how to save on gas consumption. When you are driving a pick-up truck with an empty bed the air will push against the tailgate causing your engine to burn more gas from this experience. It is vital that you put a covering over the truck bed to prevent the over usage of gas. You need to be made aware of the factor of speeding up your vehicle and then slowing down on the highway only causes you to use a large amount of gasoline. You need to use cruise control in order to keep the speed constant which will save on your gas consumption on highway driving. Some of the tips are simple enough to do and perhaps forgotten over the years that is why we are just refreshing your memory.

It is always best to car pool when you are driving in the city in order to save on gasoline consumption. Many people are now using public transportation like the city bus in order to save on gas consumption. It is wise if you can possibly do this but in many cases it may not fit in with your work schedule. You need to do your own driving in order to get to work on time, pick up your children and perhaps even get some much needed shopping done. This is fine but remembers some simple steps will help you save on your gas consumption. When you are caught in a line of traffic shut your motor off in order to save on gasoline. You can also walk inside of a restaurant or bank instead of setting in a long line of traffic keeping your motor idling will only burn more gasoline. These few tips we hope will help you save on your vehicles gas consumption.

By now, you probably have a good idea on how to save gas. The driver themselves is responsible when it comes to saving on gas. If you can change your own driving habits, you can see your gasoline bill go down.

Here’s some good news from the auto world (a rare occurrence over the past few months), 2008 traffic fatalities are at record lows.

The National Safety Council annual report states that there were 39,800 deaths last year related to motor vehicles in 2008. That’s an 8% drop in the number of fatalities over the previous year. In case you’re wondering, it has nothing to do with people driving less due to increases in gas prices or some other, normal, outside factor. It turns out that the ratio of deaths per vehicle miles driven has also dropped.

According to the National Safety Council there are three factors that contributed to the record low levels. First off, cars and trucks are getting better and better in the safety department, as shown each year by the high safety numbers posted in NHTSA and IIHS crash testing. Also contributing to the record drop are public education and the visible enforcement of safety laws.

There are other upsides to this, in addition to a lower overall death toll. Fewer deaths mean fewer medical expenses and property damage as well as lower loss of wages.

So, good job everybody, and it’s not very frequently that I say that about my fellow drivers … because really, the stuff that I still see on the road makes me shake my head. Actually, I’m surprised the fatality rate hasn’t gone up.

Both Auto Parts Warehouse and Parts Train are online stores that offer automotive parts for all types of cars. If you currently work on your car and want to save money, not to mention time, you should check out these online stores to see if they have the parts that you need for your car.

Generic v/s Specific Automotive Products at Auto Parts Warehouse and Parts Train

Many of the parts that are offered at Parts Train are generic parts for any automobile. You can shop for oil, fluids and other items that you would otherwise get at an automotive store. On the other hand, Auto Parts Warehouse is a discount online retailer that focuses more on specific auto parts for your car. Both of these online stores offer a discount when it comes to auto parts, especially when compared with off line stores.

Getting a Good Deal on Automotive Products at Auto Parts Warehouse and Parts Train

When you purchase auto parts for your car, you have a choice. You can purchase them right from the dealer, or from a retailer that sells auto parts. Often, the prices of the parts are marked up considerably. When you make your purchase from Auto Parts Warehouse, you can save yourself some money. The discount that you can expect to receive is about 40 percent off of the retail price that you would pay if you bought the parts in a parts store, depending on the model and make of the car. Newer car parts cost less than the older car parts.

When it comes to supplies for your car, you can get a good deal at Parts Train. Parts Train also carries auto parts for your car. If you need auto parts for a newer model car, chances are that you will find them at both of these online stores. If the car is older and the parts more rare, you will have a better chance at getting them at Auto Parts Warehouse. Both of these online stores offer products that you can use in the maintenance and cleaning of your car.

Cashing in on Online Coupon Codes

One of the best aspects about dealing with these online auto parts stores is that you can receive an online coupon code for these retailers if you do a coupon code search. You can get up to a 20 percent discount on a coupon for parts when you go to Auto Parts Warehouse and sign up to be part of their mailing list. When you are looking for coupon codes for Parts Train, you can get a 10 percent discount which is good on each purchase. Although Auto Parts Warehouse has more of a discount, Parts Train is cheaper when it comes to overall auto supplies and their discount coupon is good every time you make a purchase.

Charging it at Auto Parts Warehouse and Parts Train

Both Auto Parts Warehouse and Parts Train take charge cards as well as debit cards with charge card logos. If you are looking for auto parts or auto supplies and want to save money as well as the time it would take shopping around for the parts, you can get what you need simply by going online to Auto Parts Warehouse or Parts Train. Be sure to take advantage of the discount code when you make a purchase.

Are you thinking of buying a car? A hybrid car can be your perfect solution. In short these cars use more than two power sources for moving. The power resources used in these cars are gasoline, compressed air, hydrogen, solar, natural gas, wind and rechargeable energy storage system. (Hybrid systems can be used in two wheelers, heavy vehicles that include trucks, cars and even boats as well. )The choice of car is the most vital and should be made after much research and giving some thought to environment factors as well. If you go for hybrid cars, you will realize they are the most affordable, efficient and highly innovative. They follow the system of fuel economy. They require much less fuel in comparison to others. The main reason for the popularity of hybrid cars is that they are considered to be the best gas mileage cars.

Best gas mileage is one of the important requisites of any buyer. It’s not always possible to buy a fuel efficient car and at the same time get good gas mileage. Either the former or the latter is always a problem among the car buyers. In Hybrid cars buyers get the advantage of both the features. Isn’t that wonderful? What more can you ask for? Not only this, the buyers get several benefits that include, mixing of the power of the gas power with the energy of the electrical motor which leads to the best gas mileage. Hybrid cars are comfortable, elegant, stylish and also reduce the dependency on the fossil fuel which helps in the consumption of fuels. Hybrid buyers, on purchasing these cars are usually entitled to a purchase incentive. With all the benefits, hybrid cars are quite popular among the users.

You can also go through the hybrid kit, which is available for every car. It will help you to get the best gas mileage and will also reduce pollution levels of your car. A Hybrid kit will also increase mpg of your car. If you have an old car that you are using, you can convert it into a hybrid with a hybrid kit. Hybrid kits have the power to reduce the usage of gas up to sixty percent.

As the price of gas is increasing each day, users of hybrid cars gain in several ways. Hybrid car users can increase mpg and can free the environment from pollution and disease. In recent years, hybrid cars are highly being used by almost every type of person, including celebrities. Their popularity is increasing day by day. They are affordable, useful and stylish, and in the near future they are going to be the most innovative and efficient cars of the world. If you are thinking about getting a car with best gas mileage and efficient fuel economy, then you must consider a hybrid car.

Jeep tops are fairly universal Jeep accessories in that everyone from casual Jeep owners to hardcore off road enthusiasts has some basic knowledge of what they’re about.

But Jeep tops can get more complicated that one might think, and while it’s hard to go wrong when making a purchase, having an intimate knowledge about them can go a long way in extending the benefits.

For this reason, we’ve dissected nearly every imaginable Jeep top to take an in-depth look at what makes them must-have Jeep accessories.

Which Jeep Top?

It’s an age old question; perhaps one that has been asked since the time of the dinosaurs. Not really, but choosing a Jeep top has always been a decision that requires a fair amount of thought.

At first glance, choosing a top seems pretty simple. The features are all plainly stated, pictures give you an idea of what to expect looks-wise, and your particular environmental situation further dictates which one you need.

But there are also many factors that aren’t taken into account when shopping for a Jeep top. Intangibles like installation and frame style are examples of lesser-known aspects, while things like road noise or insulation are factors that can only be experienced firsthand.

With this in mind, I’ll do my best to cover aspects that are typically unaccounted for.

Factory versus Aftermarket Jeep Tops

When it really comes down to it, there isn’t a huge discrepancy between what both factory and aftermarket tops have to offer.

A factory Jeep top will give you that genuine Jeep look and feel, plus the added security of sticking to true Jeep accessories that follow the same standard of quality as the vehicle itself. Aftermarket tops are for the most part similar to factory units, but with a few exceptions.

Although both versions of Jeep tops are made from the same materials, equivalent quality, and with the same purpose in mind, aftermarket tops offer certain features, benefits, or other Jeep accessories that you might not get out of factory units.

For instance, certain aftermarket tops have been optimized to reduce road noise better than a factory one. Also, in the event that your Jeep top needs replacing, aftermarket replacement options are typically cheaper than factory tops. For these reasons, aftermarket options usually make for favorable Jeep accessories when replacing aging factory tops.

Narrowing It Down

The first and most obvious way to categorize Jeep tops in terms of need is by splitting up hardtops and soft tops. Clearly, the two styles are distinctive enough that each one serves its purpose in different ways.

Jeep Hardtops

Hard-style Jeep tops are a never-fail option. They rarely if ever need replacing and provide enhancement and heavy duty protection. In addition, they offer a number of handy Jeep accessories, like power windows, a rear window defroster, and more. Hardtops come in a one-piece model, or a two-piece configuration with a removable sunroof.

On the flipside, Jeep hardtops are not easily removed and stored for those who enjoy open-air summertime driving. Hardtop hoists and storage-based Jeep accessories are available, but require added purchases.

Jeep Soft Tops

For those who love customizability with their Jeep accessories, soft tops are the way to go. Available in a variety of designs, Jeep soft tops offer the kind of versatility, comfort, and style that justify a Jeep purchase in the first place. Plus soft tops are easy to install, remove, or store.

On the other hand, soft Jeep tops aren’t exactly ideal for colder weather. Their thinner material and fabric construction leaves them with poor insulation, and also gives them an average lifespan of only 3 to 5 years before requiring replacement.

Upon Further Review…

On the other hand, soft Jeep tops aren’t exactly ideal for colder weather. Their thinner material and fabric construction leaves them with poor insulation, and also gives them an average lifespan of only 3 to 5 years before requiring replacement.

Jeep Hardtops

When it comes to hardtops, making a choice and meeting the requirements for installation is relatively easy, and getting the right Jeep top is usually a simple matter of picking either a one or two-piece top.

Two-Piece Hardtops

The two-piece hardtop is the definitive Jeep top for year-round performance in any climate.

On one hand, you get the protection and insulation of a full-fledged hardtop during the winter. Then for warmer weather conditions, the cockpit features a removable roof piece for open-air driving.

In addition, hardtop Jeep tops come with a vast assortment of unique features and Jeep accessories like a fiberglass-reinforced plastic composition for durability, an in-mold gel coating for fade resistance, rear window vents, a rear window defroster, tinted tempered glass windows, an overhead dome light, and much more.

One-Piece Hardtops

In addition, hardtop Jeep tops come with a vast assortment of unique features and Jeep accessories like a fiberglass-reinforced plastic composition for durability, an in-mold gel coating for fade resistance, rear window vents, a rear window defroster, tinted tempered glass windows, an overhead dome light, and much more.

Jeep Soft Tops

Soft tops are where matters can get a little confusing.

To start, it is necessary to determine whether or not you have a pre-existing frame, and whether it’s in usable condition. Remember that the frame is the backbone of your soft top, and therefore a worn, rusted, or misshapen frame can cause your Jeep top to install improperly, or perhaps not perform as expected.

If you do have a frame already in place, you next need to find out if it’s a factory or aftermarket frame. This will ultimately help you narrow down which aftermarket Jeep top options are available to you, since certain Jeep tops are only compatible with particular frame styles.

For those without a Jeep top frame altogether, an aftermarket Jeep top kit that includes both the Jeep top and hardware system to set it up is suggested.

Pre-Existing Factory Frame Jeep Tops

These Jeep tops are designed exclusively for use with Jeep vehicles that have a pre-existing factory frame in usable condition.

Replace-A-Tops

For a fast, efficient, and inexpensive soft Jeep top solution, Replace-A-Tops make updating your old, worn factory top simpler than ever.

The Replace-A-Top is a basic Jeep top skin that easily slips on and off your factory frame. Each kit includes only the Jeep top fabric with optional clear or tinted windows, and the Jeep tops themselves are built to factory standards, or better.

Additionally, the Replace-A-Top includes a host of other fine features, such as premium fabric construction, mildew and UV resistant material, industrial strength thread, heat sealed seams, and much more.

Trusted Jeep tops manufacturers Bestop, Rugged Ridge, and Smittybilt each offer perfectly reliable and inexpensive Replace-A-Top models.

Bestop also offers a premium option in their Replace-A-Top Jeep top made out of revolutionary Sailcloth fabric to help improve insulation and drastically reduce road noise over factory Jeep tops.

Halftops

For a sporty two-seater look and feel there’s nothing quite like a Halftop Jeep top. Combining components of several other styles, the Halftop is the perfect hybrid of unique style and rugged function.

The Halftop includes all the usual soft top functions and Jeep accessories like mildew and UV resistant-fabric, a convenient fold back sunroof, zip-out windows, and much more, but then also incorporates all of this into an unconventional sporty look.

The Halftop Jeep Top from Bestop is actually something of an exception when it comes to having the right hardware for installation. It can accommodate those who have a pre-existing factory hard or soft top frame, or for those who have no frame at all.

Halftop Jeep tops are available exclusively from Bestop.

No Frame or Aftermarket Frame Jeep Tops

These Jeep tops are compatible with Jeeps that have either no soft top frame whatsoever, or a pre-existing aftermarket frame.

Supertop

You wouldn’t think from the sleek design and intuitive features that the Supertop Jeep top has followed mostly the same formula for decades.

Sold as a complete package with all necessary mounting hardware and Jeep accessories to get your started, a Supertop is a simple yet dependable solution for adding a soft top to an open-top Jeep. Its “Set-N-Stretch” fabric won’t fade or warp regardless of temperature, and the zip-out replaceable windows come in clear or tinted.

The Supertop also gives you a variety of other premium features like mildew and UV resistant fabric, industrial strength thread, heat sealed seams, heavy duty molded-tooth zippers for easy window installation and removal, and powder-coated rust-resistant frame hardware to ensure long frame life.

Best of all, using the Supertop framework, you can easily change out your top skin for a bikini top, or remove it altogether for open-air driving.

The Supertop Jeep top is available exclusively from Bestop, and is available in a complete kit with frame hardware or in replacement skins for those with an aftermarket frame already installed.

Rollback Sunroof Tops

These soft top Jeep tops follow the same basic formula of most other soft tops with the exception of a sleek and convenient rollback sunroof for a more open-air feel.

These Jeep tops also include all the necessary hardware you need to do a complete installation from scratch, and the versatile design also allows for compatibility with a number of soft door options.

Other features of Rollback Sunroof tops include mildew and UV resistant fabric, industrial strength thread, heat-sealed seams, heavy duty molded-tooth zippers for easy window installation and removal, and powder-coated rust-resistant frame hardware to ensure long frame life.

Current rollback sunroof-style Jeep tops include the Bestop Sunrider and Pavement Ends Flip Top.

Tiger Top

Vintage and classic Jeep owners need not feel left out thanks to the Tiger Top.

Designed and custom-crafted by Jeep tops leader Bestop, the Tiger Top Jeep top is built specifically for older model Jeeps, and even comes sporting that vintage Jeep look.

The Bestop Tiger Top includes all necessary hardware for a full installation onto an open top Jeep.

Your Jeep Top Purchase

Choosing a top isn’t as complicated of an affair as one might suspect. In the end, Jeep tops are all about getting the style you want at an agreeable price.

Hopefully this article has helped you in that decision-making process in order to minimize the hassle of buying and installing the right one so you can focus on the fun part.

Now go get your Jeep top.
